Maryann Phelps, Secretary

Maryann has worked in the Physical Therapy Program since 2001. Prior to working for the Physical Therapy Program, she worked in the General Accounting office of the Clinical Practice Management Plan at Stony Brook University for six years. Maryann was also a 13 year member of the New York Army National Guard and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before departing the military in 1989. Maryann takes care of the day to day needs of the department, faculty and students. In addition to her day to day departmental duties, as an elected Union Officer, Maryann is an advocate for Stony Brook University nonprofessional employees. Maryann also sits on numerous committees, including the CSEA Women’s Committee, the CSEA Human Rights Committee, and the CSEA Political Action Committee. Maryann is the Chairperson of the CSEA Statewide Veteran’s Committee, the CSEA Long Island Region Veteran’s Committee, and is a member of the 71st Infantry Veterans Committee.

When she is not spending time with her family she does fundraising for numerous local and national charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Suffolk County United Veterans, the Beacon House, and Long Island Cares. Maryann is a member of AMVETS.
