Marian I. Eskow Student Scholarship

Marian Eskow has distinguished herself among our graduates through her lifelong commitment to high quality patient care. First as as RN, then as a PA, and finally her service as a faculty member at the Stony Brook PA Program. Her commitment to the program and profession was further demonstrated through her family's funding of the Marian I. Eskow Student Scholarship, initiated in her honor, by her husband. After graduating from the Stony Brook program in 1981, and practicing in Emergency Medicine and Employee Health Medicine, Marian joined the faculty at Stony Brook and served for 10 years primarily in the role of Director of Clinical Education. Marian was known as a "can do" person who focused her attention on ensuring that the clinical phase of PA education was of the highest quality, and ensured that our students graduated from the program prepared to practice medicine. Her contribution to the program will be remembered in the minds of the students she served and the faculty she worked with. After leaving the program, Marian and her husband retired to the Palm Beach area where she enjoys a full and relaxing life. The scholarship application will be provided to students each spring.

Guy A. Cassara Memorial Scholarship

Guy Cassara was the consummate health professional and in his career he practiced as an EMT, Nurse, NP and PA. He loved medicine and learning and dedicated his professional life to becoming an expert in the care of critically ill and injured people. What truly mattered to Guy, and what he loved most, were the relationships that he enjoyed with his family and the people he loved, worked with, played with, and served so well. Guy's family and friends have extended this scholarship to inspire the recipient to direct their talents and time to serve with the same competence, zeal and level of compassion that characterized Guy's practice of medicine.
