Dr. Daniel J. Lee joined the Stony Brook University DPT faculty in 2023 after working as an Associate Professor and Research Coordinator at Touro University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University with a major in Kinesiology in 2006, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Stony Brook University in 2009, and a PhD in Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2020. His dissertation was entitled: "The Development and Validation of the Self-Management Assessment for the Residuum and Prosthesis (S.M.A.R.T.)."

Dr. Lee is dual board certified in orthopedics and geriatrics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. He serves as a Coordinator of Content Experts for the ABPTS where he oversees item writers for the board certification examinations. Dr. Lee maintains his clinical practice, providing home therapy to the east end of Long Island.  Additionally, he provides pro-bono physical therapy services to those with limb loss in collaboration with a local prosthetist.

Dr. Lee has published research in limb loss rehabilitation, self-management for those with limb loss, and the use of geriatric simulators in the education of physical therapy students.  He has presented his research both nationally and internationally and serves as a manuscript reviewer for numerous scientific journals related to physical therapy. He currently teaches courses in evidence-based practice and research methodology.
