Dr. Hewson has held a variety of administrative and leadership positions in both the clinical and academic settings. She has presented at various national conferences on ethics, community based service, and clinical education in physical therapy.

Dr. Hewson embraced the mission of service as demonstrated by her involvement from 2007 to 2013 in PAR FORE (www.parfore.org), an intergenerational mentoring program that utilized golf and life skills for middle school adolescents from underrepresented areas of Suffolk County. She has also encouraged the entry-level DPT students to participate in various service opportunities in their first and second years of the curriculum. In the DPT Program, she teaches Professional Practice I: Foundations in year one, Psychosocial Aspects of Disability in year two, and Ethics and Health Care for Physical Therapists in year three.
