Lynn Timko-Swaim, MS, MT(ASCP), PA-C
Clinical Associate Professor
Professor Timko-Swaim received her first Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1983. She worked in the field of medical technology for seven years while completing her Masters of Science degree in Medical Technology at St. John’s University. Lynn then changed career paths, attended the Stony Brook PA program and graduated in 1992. She worked clinically as a PA in both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine and joined the Stony Brook faculty in 1993.
In didactic portion of the entry-level PA masters program, Professor Timko-Swaim is responsible for the Clinical Laboratory Medicine course. She is also an instructor in several of the clinical medicine courses. She enjoys working with the PA students as the Stony Brook Student Society co-advisor and coach for the state and national scholastic competition teams.
Lynn has recently become the Director of PA Post-Professional Education and has spearheaded the development of the new PA Post-Professional Masters Program for physician assistants who wish to advance their education to the graduate level.
Lynn has a strong interest and commitment to program, School and University alumni relations. She is a member of the School’s Alumni Development Committee and is a Member at Large on the School’s chapter of the SBU Alumni Association Board of Directors. Professor Timko-Swaim is also a lecturer and co-director for the Stony Brook Annual Board Review and Post Graduate Program for Physician Assistants.
Lynn is married with one daughter. When Lynn is not spending time on the computer with digital photo projects, her family enjoys sports, traveling to visit family and going to the beach.
