Professor Trainor received his Master’s in Occupational Therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center 2006 where he was the class Legislative Liaison and received the Legislative Award from the New York State Occupational Therapy Association. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing from St. John’s University in 1987. His clinical practice has primarily been in the field of geriatrics and rehabilitation management, with a focus on skilled nursing and home care settings. Professor Trainor has held the position of Rehabilitation Director in multiple facilities and has supervised multiple students on fieldwork affiliations. Prior to his part time clinical appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor, Professor Trainor was an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University’s COTA/OT weekend program for two years and he has played an important role in the admissions process for candidates applying for the Stony Brook Occupational Therapy Program. He has experience teaching Gerontology in Occupational Therapy and Professional Practice in Occupational Therapy and Patient Education in Occupational Therapy.
