Julie Agris, PhD, JD, LLM, FACHE

Julie AgrisDr. Agris is Clinical Associate Professor and Chair of the Graduate Program in Health Administration at Stony Brook University.  She is also an Affiliate of the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Wagner School, New York University.  Dr. Agris practiced as a health care attorney on the state and federal levels prior to joining the academy.  She now teaches and publishes in the areas of healthcare law, ethics, bioethics, policy and management.

Dr. Agris is a frequently invited guest lecturer on the subjects of professionalism, law, ethics and the privacy of protected health information.  In addition, she served as Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer of Northwell Health, Legal Counsel to the Vermont General Assembly and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and as a legal intern at the White House, the Supreme Court on behalf of CBS Evening News, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Dr. Agris earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Washington College of Law, American University; Master of Laws in Health Law (LL.M.) from the Health Law and Policy Institute, University of Houston Law Center; and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in health services research and health policy from the Schneider Institutes for Health Policy, Brandeis University.  She graduated, as a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is an honorary member of the Upsilon Phi Delta Healthcare Management Honor Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
