Clinical Assistant Professor


Marilyn Lawler Haig is currently the Director of Corporate Education and Training for Stony Brook University Hospital. She has extensive experience in workplace learning and development and has previously held positions as Manager of Training and Organizational Development at Stony Brook University and as Assistant Vice President for Management Development at a New York based financial institution.

Ms. Haig’s background includes consulting, facilitation and administrative responsibilities for the design and delivery of training programs and retreats, training needs assessment, skill assessment, competency assessment and succession planning for a variety of industries. Her specialties are leadership development, team development and change management. She is a certified master trainer for Development Dimensions International and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Ms. Haig has a passion for teaching and has had the pleasure of teaching at the graduate level for over 20 years. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Stony Brook School of Health Technology and Management and also spent 6 years as a Lecturer in the Harriman School for Management and Public Policy (now the College of Business) at Stony Brook. Over the years, her courses include Group Dynamics and Communication; Workplace 2020; Crew Resource Management: Teamwork and Communication; Human Resource Administration; Employer Training and Development and Change in Organizations.  University Hospital. Ms. Haig has a passion for teaching and has had the pleasure of teaching at the graduate level for over 20 years. Ms. Haig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Humanities/Cultural Studies, a NYS Advanced Certificate in Management/Labor Relations, and an MPS degree in Management/Labor Relations with a concentration in Human Resource Management and Organization Development from Stony Brook University. She has completed post-graduate work at Fielding Graduate University in evidence-based coaching and change management and is pursuing additional certification in leader effectiveness and organizational consulting.
