Jeannie Guglielmo graduated from the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at Stony Brook’s School of Health Professions in 1994 and went on to earn a Master’s in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven in 1996. Specializing in Biological Sciences and DNA, Ms. Guglielmo first worked for Florida Department of Law Enforcement and then the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory in Hauppauge, New York, as a Forensic Scientist. After ten years working cases on the bench, which included a two year stint processing crime scenes, Ms. Guglielmo changed careers by pursuing a Master’s in Teaching in Biology. After earning her MAT in Biology from SUNY Stony Brook in 2007, she worked as a licensed New York State teacher in grades 7-12, teaching biology and forensic science.

Ms. Guglielmo has been an adjunct professor for the CLS Department since 2000, teaching various forensic science electives. Since 2011, Ms. Guglielmo has served as a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor for the CLS Department teaching clinical chemistry and forensic science and as of September 2019 is serving as Interim Chair. Ms. Guglielmo also served as an Educational Specialist for the HCARE Program from 2010 to 2011, and as a science adjunct faculty member for the HCOP Summer Academies from 2010 through 2012. Ms. Guglielmo also volunteers as a high school WISE mentor, is actively engaged as an academic advisor, and participates in numerous community outreach programs in the fields of education and science.

When asked, Ms. Guglielmo explains her motivation and inspiration towards education and science by stating that, “Everyday I enter the classroom striving to be better than the day before and to motivate my students to want to succeed and to look forward to coming to my class, I share my passion for science with all of my students...”
