Jenny deBeer Charno

jenny Jenny deBeer Charno, LMT, MPH. 

Jenny graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in Anthropology and then received the NYS license in Massage Therapy. She worked both in the medical massage field and in the business world, managing the online retail division of The Relaxation Company through 2007. She received the MPH and Certificate for Health Communication from Stony Brook University in 2014. She maintains a medical massage practice in Glen Cove.

Jenny worked with NJ SEEDS as Site Dean for 2 years with low-income adolescents on self-advocacy, goal setting, and social-emotional skill-building, including her practicum, “What’s the Stop?”, a photo-voice project addressing barriers to academic program participation among inner-city adolescents. Additionally, Jenny has led over 300 seminars designed to bring about positive and permanent shifts in the quality of people’s lives, to over 32,000 participants for Landmark Worldwide.

She has been on the seminar design team for Landmark, creating, drafting and editing manuals for global delivery, as well as training and supervising teams of volunteers. Jenny has had an ongoing interest in the health issues of the Hispanic community, through her experiences in volunteer work with the Fresh Air Fund, educational travel in the Dominican Republic and a Public Health Brigade with Stony Brook University students in Honduras. She has developed a special interest in neglected tropical diseases, Chagas Disease in particular, and looks forward to using the CSS menteeship to impact the health of the Hispanic community.
