Aerosol delivery during mechanical ventilation; Nebulization; Pulmonary drug delivery

Biography

The science of aerosol delivery is exciting and important as new drugs and novel aerosol formulations are constantly being developed. Drug delivery of aerosolized medications to intubated and mechanically ventilated patients is currently uncontrolled and there is wide variability in dose delivery to the patient. Delivery depends on the ability to optimize several factors, including the drug formulation, the aerosol generator, and the technique of administration.  Ann has collaborated with colleagues in the Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Division at Stony Brook University Medical Center on several projects including device development.
