Message from the Dean October 2, 2020

Dear Students,

In an effort to continue to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keep our campus safe, the Health Sciences Center will continue to reduce the density of people on campus during Winter and Spring 2021 terms.  The School of Health Technology and Management (SHTM) will, depending on the content of the course, offer instruction in-person, hybrid or in a remote mode.

Your Program Director will be in contact regarding specifics for your program.

General Principles

  • Spring break has been cancelled across the university. SHTM will follow this policy.
  • Programs/Courses that are following a SEMESTER based calendar will begin on Feb. 1 for all modes of course delivery.  If necessary, those courses that are scheduled to meet in-person may meet virtually the first two weeks of the semester. Program Directors will inform you about your particular courses.
  • Programs/Courses that are following the HSC modular calendar will not alter dates except that there will be no Spring Break. Please refer to the HSC calendar (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/hsstudents/recordsandregistration/calendars/calendar2021#view-spring).  Program Directors will inform you about your particular courses.
  • Clinical rotations/affiliations/internships will not be affected by these calendar changes and will continue as previously scheduled as long as the clinical site is accepting our students and following proper safety precautions.

If you have any questions, please contact your program director for more information.

Sincerely,

Stacy Jaffee Gropack, PT., Ph.D., FASAHP
