Message from the Dean August 20, 2020

August 20, 2020

Dear Students,

We are close to officially beginning the Fall semester. For those of you who have had class during the summer, I hope that you have done well and are ready to move forward with Fall classes. For those of you who will be starting on Monday, August 24th I know you are anxious to commence your studies.

Many of you will be starting or continuing your studies in a remote fashion as we did in the last academic year. The decision has been made with the intention of keeping everyone safe and healthy, while still providing the quality education that you deserve as Stony Brook students. Some of you might be coming to campus for some important hands-on skills labs or other experiences that are best taught face-to-face. I want to assure you that if you are coming to campus, we have worked diligently to abide by all the Center for Disease Control (CDC) requirements in promoting social distancing and the use of masks. Special cleaning procedures are in place for all spaces on campus, and classrooms have been outfitted with cleaning supplies for maintenance. Should you have any questions about safety on campus, potential exposures or other COVID related issues, feel free to contact your Program Director.

I would like to remind you to check out the Stony Brook Coming Back Safe Strong web page HERE for any updates as well as student FAQs.  In addition, please refer to the important information and resources referenced in my last email.

For meetings with faculty or staff, you are encouraged to make virtual appointments.  Important phone numbers will be posted outside the SHTM Dean’s Office so you may contact your program accordingly.  If you need assistance from the Dean’s Office, you may call 631-444-2252.

Please keep in mind that even though you may be in a remote environment, all student services are available to you including

Finally, the administration, faculty, and staff remain available to you as you navigate the semester. Please seek our assistance, as well as the assistance of your student colleagues.  We will continue to communicate with you throughout the semester, and encourage you to check in with us to let us know how you’re doing.

On behalf of the School of Health Technology and Management, we wish you a safe and successful semester ahead.

Sincerely,
