Welcome to the Polysomnographic Technology Certificate Program
Application deadline to be announced!
The Polysomnographic Technology Program is currently being converted into a baccalaureate degree program to meet the requirements of the New York State Licensing law. We are working with the Department of Education and the SUNY system to finalize the curriculum and course descriptions. We hope to open applications at the end of February for classes that will begin on or about July 1st. Please check the website for updates to the program.
I would like to introduce you to the field of Polysomnographic Technology. This field has grown rapidly in recent years and there is high demand for well educated and knowledgeable technologists. Currently there are over 100 known sleep disorders, with more being discovered each year. Sleep disorders can lead to both a decreased quality of life and numerous medical complications, some of which are life threatening.
The Polysomnographic Technology Program is designed for students who are eager to enter into a health care field with great opportunities. The program at Stony Brook covers all aspects of Polysomnographic Technology and prepares the student to sit for the national exam offered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Upon graduation, you will receive a certificate of completion in Polysomnographic Technology. If you would like further information and/or an application, please contact me.
