Thank you for visiting the Stony Brook University Athletic Training Program website. Whether you are a high school student, currently enrolled college student, parent of a prospective student, or "surfing the net", we welcome you to learn more about our outstanding program and the exciting profession of athletic training.  If you are interested in combining your enjoyment of athletics with medicine, Athletic Training may be the program for you!

The Athletic Training Program is challenging and rewarding. The curriculum begins with general education including four pre-requisite courses specific to Athletic Training. Students who are admitted into the program then begin the comprehensive professional preparation phase which is directed toward the development of specified competencies dealing with injuries and conditions. I encourage you to review the coursework for further information. The Athletic Training Student will have the opportunity to develop applied technical and clinical skills, analytical problem solving and incorporate evidence based practice in a patient centered environment. In addition, students gain valuable hands-on experience with NCAA Division I athletics, work alongside physicians, organize original research projects and mentor underclassmen.

Good luck in your educational pursuits. If we can be of any additional assistance in answering questions you may have please feel free to contact us.

    Sincerely,

    Kathryn A. Koshansky, MS, ATC
