on how texting while talking on a cell phone slows one's walking pace. The results, published in the Jan 5, 2012 online edition of the journal "Gait and Posture", suggest that cellphone use and texting affect the working memory in areas of the brain that control executive function and attention, and are necessary for walking. (study co-author Lamberg) The authors are both clinical associate professors in physical therapy at Stony Brook University's School of Health Technology and Management.
